At Mom's for weekned.

I stayed on my Mom's this weekend. Eating was okay becuase I had the Eureka Natural Foods store to shop at.  I shopped on Friday before lunch. Mom is not a raw foodist, but she is Organic. My sister who lives with her is an excellent organic cook. So, I do have some things already at my disposal, spinach, usually some fruit. My biggest challenge is preparing for one. Mom's main courses are already done, so I just add some salad and fruit and she's easy. She has Multiple Sclerosis, she is bed ridden for the last 5 years. She had a bed sore that she ended up in a Skilled Nursing Facility for. Once that was cured, her chance of getting another is very likely. She needs to be transfered off her back every hour, or the sensitive spot of skin will break and start another bed sore. I want to advise others about this disease. I am still going to try some alternative treatment for her mental state. I'll touch on it more later. Please comment if you want more information.

My Grocery list for the weekend for one, 2 1/2 days of meals needed:
1 Avacado
2 Roma Tomatoes
1 bunch Celery
1 Green bell pepper
2 carrots
1 loaf of sprouted bread
2 Nectarines, 2 Plums, 2 Peaches
8 oz. pre made Hummus (I chose roasted red pepper)
4 large button mushrooms
Daikon Sprouts
about 1/2 cup Bee Pollen (was a good snack)

I keep several things at Mom's already for my Raw food habit (i like that better than calling it a diet, remember it's a lifestyle).
Kalamata Olives, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Bragg's Vinegar.

Obviously the hardest time I had was not buying too much! I had tons of food.I took home the Celery, carrots, most of the Hummus, 3/4 of the bell pepper, one mushroom and most of the bread. I did not crave cooked food, although is was available and cooked while I was here. ( I get to go home in a couple of hours). I tried to make a raw speghetti sauce, but had no blender. It was okay, but not as good as I can do with my blender. And I didn't have a Madoline. Zucchini Noodles are much better when not shredded.

I'm finding choosing Raw easier and easier. I do discuss my new lifestyle with many friends, most of the comments are " I like cooked food too much". My comment: "it's amazing how much I don't miss it".

Good luck to all of you who are also starting this new lifestyle. I will be here for help and encouragement for all who need it.
