Help Your Kids Eat Better School Food with onetray.org!

Hi all, Damon here finally getting angry enough to get up and post something here. Really hard to imagine the ingredients of "Fishies" that I saw on my kids' school lunch menu.

Do your kids, and mine....and even the kid that throws the paper in the bushes a favor. Go to onetray.org and sign the petition for the Farm to School Program. I got off mine and went to the school web page that showed me what they served for lunch and was appalled. My kids do take a lunch every day, so I have a little control over what they eat at school but enevitably they will eat what they want. We just have to help them WANT good food and actually learn what it is!

Here is the Petition Header:
Together, we represent millions of Americans supporting Farm to School policy solutions for the Child Nutrition Act that support:

1.    Mandatory Funding for Farm to School Programs
2.    Increased Reimbursement Rates
3.    Strengthened Nutrition Standards for School Meal Programs and Competitive Foods

AND here's a great video from their site to get the point across. I would LOVE to see lunch trays in every school that look like the ones at the end of the video!

So there we go....go sign the petition and we'll just have to see what happens. If we can get more LOCAL fruits and veggies in school instead of Kraft, Cargill and ConAgra we'll all be just fine...and so will our kids....and grandkids.......and great-grandkids!

The kids at my middle school are just as disgusted with the school lunches. Even on Fridays when most schools serve pizza we get the plastic-wrapped pizza pockets, which honestly don't taste like pizza at all, just blob. I like desert as much as any other kid, but the desert they gave us once was tis gooey fruity red slop. No one had any idea what planet that came from. If your ever at my school when they have their hamburgers/chicken burgers (hard to tell the diff.), check for the trademark greenish tinge before eating. You've been warned.
