Orange, Nectarine, Kale & Chia Smoothie

Our morning smoothie made with whatever I found in the pantry. Luckily there are plenty of fresh fruits still available. Right now we are doing fruit based smoothies in the morning and veggies all day and for our evening meals. This one was awesome, I could have stopped before the Kale, but I know how good I feel when I put greens in my smoothies I had to do it. Once you get over the color, you realize the flavor and benefits of the green smoothies, the color doesn't matter anymore. The best book to read about the benefits of "green" is Victoria Boutenko's Green for Life. She has some awesome research about why and how greens work for us starting with the animal world. Her story is awesome, she and her family were all very ill and healed themselves with the raw food lifestyle. Very inspirational lives!

The Chia is really thick after soaking......

I could have stopped here..... the color was nice.... but the greens make me feel so GOOD!!!!!!

Orange, Nectarine, Kale, Chia Smoothie
2 fresh Organic Oranges
1 fresh Organic Nectarine
2 Cups Filtered Water
1Tbs Flax Oil
2 Tbs Agave Nectar
1 Tbs Chia (soaked in 1 cup water for approx 10 mins)
Dash Salt
Handful of Fresh Organic Kale

Process all in Blender until smooth. Enjoy!!!

Yes, it was green, but it gave me extreme energy all day long. I use the Flax oil for my eyes. My optometrist suggested 2 Tbs twice a day for 30 days for my dry eyes. He did the experiment and it worked for him.

Do you know the top 3 sources of Omega-3? Flax seeds, Salmon and Walnuts. Check it out here: Worlds Healthiest foods.

Are you getting enough Omegas, or "essential fatty acids" every day?

Thanks for telling us about the flax oil for dry eyes! Instead of me using drugstore drops that contain mineral oil (yep, your vision gets cloudy for a few seconds) I will try to get some. My big problem is that the nearest health food place is a 50 mile round trip...not to mention the traffic there! Perhaps you can e-mail me a website addy?

      Lori,
You can find Organic Flax seed oil online at lots of stores.  Just do a google search, anyone from Amazon are usually good sellers. Find one that offers free or cheap shipping.

I love the stuff! My eyes are changing alot with this new diet. I think I need different contacts already!

Just make sure it is COLD PRESSED and ORGANIC oil....not expeller pressed or otherwise! This goes for all of your oils purchased. Peace!
