Believe it or not......Food Industry Dictates Nutrition Policy

The CNN.com site posts great stories, everything from breaking news to sports. One of the writers from New York, Jonathan Safran Foer nails it on the head with this article about the Food industry, the FDA, the USDA and our national nutrition policies. It's a must read for EVERY American. Food Industry Dictates Nutrition Policy.

Once you know, how can you possibly ignore the facts? It's not about conspiracy at this point. It's about what they feed us so they can make a profit. I wonder if the CEO's of companies like Kellogg's, Kraft, Coca Cola and Pepsi actually eat the food and drinks that they produce? Do they feed it to their kids? Do they bother to really know about all the chemicals and processes that they use to produce their products? Do they know that they are giving us diabetes and heart disease? Do they partake?

Even if you eat organic, the food industry is watching your every purchase...and profiting from it. Check out the post we did last June about processed organics and the Organic Food Industry structure. Don't forget to check EVERY nutritional label you purchase. Here are some great facts about Nutrition labels.

I have to admit it's one great thing about eating raw living food.... you don't have to read labels. There aren't any on fruits and vegetables! No more counting calories, worrying about sodium, saturated fat, sugar, protein or even serving size! It's a huge stress off of meal time!

Have you read ingredient labels lately? If you can't pronounce an ingredient on the label... DON'T BUY IT, and definitely don't eat it or feed it to your kids!

If your great grandmother wouldn't recognize an ingredient on a label.... skip it! (Michael Pollan)
